The first symptom is usually a characteristic pink or red rash that starts as a small red spot that gradually spreads in a much larger circle. Note that Lyme disease has never been proven to be present in Australia and cases are typically linked to overseas travel.

Borrelia Burgdorferi Serology
This test looks for antibodies to the Lyme disease bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi. These antibodies may appear when you have come in contact with the Lyme disease bacterium which is transmitted by a bite from an infected deer tick also known as the black-legged tick.
